ECMO Transport Collaboration

At 5:15 pm last night Star City Fire & EMS was requested to respond to Wheeling Hospital for a critical transport back to Ruby Memorial. The patient was in such critical condition that it required the specialized services of the HealthNet 1 crew consisting of a critical care nurse and critical care paramedic; in addition to an advanced practitioner from Ruby Memorial Hospital. This call constituted the first ECMO transport for Star City Fire & EMS. It took the work of EVERYONE to get this patient safely transported back to Ruby. “Patient Care First” is not just something we say, it is something we do. Inter-agency cooperation at its finest.
